Greetings Highland Family!

You may have noticed our newsletter has a new look and a new name, Reflections. Just like the seasons, (thankfully) things change.

A yoga studio is a wonderful place to witness change. Our practices evolve from day to day, moving ever closer to a different and more colorful expression of our true selves. Some days things work and some days they don't. We can always be assured that each day will bring us something different. It's fun to reflect on what's going on around us. We see the influence of others on ourselves and the influence we have on others. We're reminded that although things change around us and within us, our inner connection, the true self that lies within, is constant.

Much like the natural world is a reflection of our true self, this newsletter will reflect the transformations of the studio as we all evolve together. Besides the new layout and colors, you'll see some new additions to the newsletter like tips from highland teachers and a virtual suggestion box Look for even more changes in the months to come.

Namaste,

Anelyn and Stephen

(with Cordelia and Lucien)

"Happiness is your nature. It is not wrong to desire it.

What is wrong is seeking it outside when it is inside. "

* John teaches Anusara every Mon. night from 4:30 - 7:15pm and Wed morning at 9:00am.

Anusara Yoga is an evolution of an ancient practice. Anusara means to flow with Grace, to be in the Currents of something far greater than ourselves. In class you will learn how to cultivate this relationship with Grace by using Universal Principles of Alignment which are the hallmark of the Anusara® method. Each class has a specific theme that invites you to go a step deeper into your own Heart-felt experience and inspires life-affirming habits. Each pose, each breath, each thought is an opportunity to align with the divine and evolve from within.

The January Immersion is currently in progress. The spring immersion begins on March 13 2011.

The training will meet on the following 6 Sundays, 12 to 6pm:

3/13, 3/20, 3/27, 4/03, 4/17, 5/01

* Pam teaches Kundalini every Wed. night at 4:30pm.

Yogi Bhajan said: “Meditation and life are very interlocked. It is important to be able to know what is going on beneath the surface of situations. Ordinarily untrained people can do this 15% of the time, but the ideal is to have your intuition work at the 60% level or higher.”  During the Aquarian Age the vibration has shifted to give us all awareness of our intuition and our divine connected consciousness. To Know through intuition is in our biology and is our birthright. Everyone can learn to use the technology of Kundalini to open and access hidden abilities. In this workshop students will have the opportunity to apply these tools to open their own intuitive channels, to practice discerning intuitive, mediumistic or channeled information from the mind, and to give and receive messages.

Saturday April 2 11:30-2:00pm, $30

* Maren teaches Vinyasa Level 1 every Wed. night at 6:00pm.

*Excerpt from the blog Everyday Vegan by Maren Parisi

"No, I haven't lost it (yet!)... I'm serious!  Many people seem much more concerned with how they fuel-up their non-living vehicles rather than their amazingly alive and under-nourished bodies.  So at the pump you sit and while your coche gets pumped with the finest octane gasoline, you treat yourself to a bionic Hostess Sno-Ball and a slushie...

Frankly, I'd rather stuff the Prius with Sno-Balls and slushies and me with the high octane if given the choice.  But there's the beauty: we don't HAVE to make the choice to down crap all the time.  We can fuel our bodies and our cars with a good diet!  In that case, Prius can have the gasoline!"

We have failed to make ourselves a priority, and perhaps that is because we have failed to recognize just how much......
