Patanjali, the great yogi and sage, begins his Yoga Sutras
with these words:
Atha yoganusasanam.
This
sutra or “thread” of advice has many translations, but the
one that resonates with us most is:
Now yoga begins.
It
seems an appropriate reflection on this first day of the new year
because it evokes new beginnings, new inquiries, and new
possibilities on and off the mat. How will yoga begin for you, what
can you deepen in your practice, and what are you seeking as we
start 2010?
For
Stephen and me, our focus is on family this year, which inspired us
to introduce prenatal, children, and teen classes to serve the
youngest in our community. We’ll be hosting an Open House Week to
foster camaraderie, playfulness, and an opportunity to grow your
practice. Allow this month’s activities to support you and your
family in your personal explorations for 2010.
Happy New Year, Highland
Family! We wish you peace in your heart, peace in your home, and
peace in all the world for this next decade.
Namaste,
Anelyn and Stephen
(with Cordelia and Lucien, too!)
